Question 2005 "CAD Line Computations" window.

Haven't used the software in a while so am a bit rusty. Until earlier today, I could click on a individual cogo line and delete it individually. Or I could click on a distance or bearing, and that would bring up a window to and change the font, etc. But now, suddenly, when I click on an individual l...

Canvas X with GIS is good for this. I'm told that a free 15-day trial is available, then can be extended for an additional 15 days. All it takes is an email address. It imports MSCAD, AutoCAD and ESRI shapefiles, too.

Tim, I think what you may be doing is not actually importing or opening MrSID files with MSCAD. To import MrSID or open MrSID files with MSCAD, MSCAD would have to have the capability to decompress them. It doesn't have that capability. I think what you may be actually doing is using some other soft...

Ed, MrSID is a compression technology. TIFF documents are not created from MrSID. MSCAD 2005 does not support MrSID compressed files. As far as I know, neither does 2008. A search for "mrsid" on this forum will reveal other discussions of this subject within the past year or so. As I recall, MS staf...

Bentley DGN map file type with MSCAD 2005.

Can one open Bentley DGN map files with MSCAD 2005 and perhaps even convert them to MSCAD files?

Your inCAD customers on the other board don't seem to know anything about this. At least they didn't say anything about it in their posts. Evidently, Glen didn't know about it either, since he didn't say anything about it in his reply to them. Maybe he couldn't give the reason there because no one h...

Over on the MSCAD forum staff are saying, "Don't worry. You can depend on us. We will always take care of you."

Being skeptical about that, I was thinking about switching from MSCAD to AutoCAD and maybe adding InCAD.

With what I'm reading here, that doesn't look like a very good idea.

Glen, with respect, it would be helpful if you could clarify this for us, since it seems that you have contradicted yourself. In an earlier post you stated that when a person upgrades from one version to another, their license to use the first version expires, and they are therefore required to stop...

Richard, I didn't read your latest post before making my previous post. But I wanted to let you know that you wrote is correct. You are right on target.

It is better to spend the extra money to keep a full license for older versions.

When you think it through, you see that in the particular case of MS software products, it is better to spend the extra few hundred dollars, or whatever it is, and keep a full license of every version purchased. In the case of MS software products, keeping a full license of prior versions is probabl...

Licensing.

Let's say, for example, that a customer has previously bought the 2005 version of the software. He has bought a license to use the 2005 version of the software forever. Then let's say that that same customer comes along and decides that he wants the newest version, 2008, and he pays full price for i...

Thanks for the info. By the way, Jason, any plans to add MrSid import and/or any elementary GIS capabilities to the software any time soon? That would be a big boost for use of the software. Looks like other packages are coming on stronger all the time with their all-in-one GIS-surveying-CAD softwar...

That's what I thought, something in the template that needs to be reset, or the template needs to be recreated from scratch. Got too late before I could try that. Fortunately, this isn't a bottleneck that stops work. Just enter 1 for first point. After that, it properly suggests 2 for second point. ...

COGO - First Point default

For some reason now when I do COGO the default first "Enter From Point" is 2 rather than 1. There is no point 1 in my template. So that's not the reason 2 is offered as the first point. Hot Toggles says "Next pt: 1". So the Next pt. is set correctly. What have I failed to re-set or clear out so that...

I wondered if one could revise the "incad.cfg" that way. This approach -- changing defaults in such a way that an actual template can be used instead of a non-template drawing used for a template -- should work better. If I use a non-template drawing as a template, I tend to forget to use a copy of ...

Richard, here it is.

Get your template the way you want it, complete with the MS Annotate > Labeling Defaults you want. Then select menu MSTools > MicroSurvey System Defaults > Save Configuration File. Give the configuration a special name, such as RICH, and save it. To make that configuration your default configuration...

Template MS Annotate Labeling Defaults 2005

I'm trying to create a template so that when I create a new drawing using the template, the Leroy Labeling Defaults for bearings, distances, etc., under MS Annotate will automatically be 15. I've tried opening a new drawing, changing the defaults to 15, and then saving the drawing as an MSCAD templa...

Correcting COGO entries in 2005.

Thanks, Richard. I will look into this. I've wondered about Batch COGO, i.e., what it is, but I haven't had time to look into it. I think I'll do that before starting the map for this job I was about to start.

If anyone else has any comments, I'd appreciate those, too.

Correcting COGO entries in 2005.

While entering and plotting a metes and bounds description using COGO, or after doing so, is there a way to correct an entry of bearing and/or distance that was made for a point and have the coordinates automatically adjusted for the entries made for the points following that point? For example, say...
