Re: Moving EVERYTHING, but not Z for some things

But I DO want to move almost everything in Z as well. I just want to leave the entities that have zero elevations at the same zero elevation.

Another way to look at it, I want to move all 3D points in X, Y and Z and then move all 2D points only in X,Y

Moving EVERYTHING, but not Z for some things

So Ontario is moving to NAD83(CSRS) 2010 and my existing MSCad files are in UTM on the 2002 datum. I want to shift them by a small amount to put them in 2010 datum. My thought is to thaw all layers and use the cad Move command to move everything from (0,0,0) to (0.012,-0.018,0.023). By using Move, I...

Two users opening the same dwg on a network at the same time

We are running about 20 computers on a network with about a dozen MSCad 2005 SP1.3 users. Normally, if someone has a dwg open with MSCad and someone else tries to open it, a dialogue box pops up informing the user that the file is currently open on another machine, so you can only open it as "read o...

We have recently put a WinXP-64 bit machine together and it is working well. Sounds similar to Richard's. It has high-end everything (graphics card, memory chips, etc.) and it performs very well on a large project with 25 ortho-image tiles. That being said, our computer guy who built it (an independ...

Eraseing points with cad erase command

When eraseing points with a cad delete and point protect on, a box pops up for each point where the user can confirm to delete a point or not. In MSCad 2002, the points would cycle through in sequential order. Now in MSCad 2005 the order seems random. Is it possible to control this? I realize that w...

We have two symbols for survey bars to distinguish if there were found (filled in solid) or set (open). Now that my "open" bar is filled with a colour 255 solid, on screen it looks just like a found bar.

Thanks for the help. At first I thought it may not work because on screen it looks just like the solid box. On print preview it looks grey. But on paper, it's perfect!

Is there an easy way to distinguish between the two symbols on screen?

That is likely it. I am loosing track of old vs new and converted drawings. The problem may well have been on a file that was converted from R2002. I have tried to replicate the problem, but haven't been able with a file created with R2005. Since converting over, I have created a new library that we...

In the past when I have had weird stuff like this happen, the only thing that worked was to copy the points into a new drawing, then transfer over text labels etc. using the Transfer with base point command. Once you have duplicate blocks, the audit won't change anything.

Yes - the blocks were inserted as part of the Automap library. I'm guessing it must be a corrupt drawing though, becuase I just ran a test on a drawing at another computer and it works fine.

I will take another look at the problem dwg.

Duplicate blocks after rescaleing or rotating

When I rescale a drawing, any blocks associated with a point are redrawn, but the original blocks remain. How do I solve this?

How to show open boxes that hide the lines behind

In autocad, we have a block for a set bar which is a box with a whipeout entity over it which hides the lines that to to the center of the bar.

Is there a method to accomplish the same thing in MSCad?

Button confusion

We have had a couple cases now where the command associated with a button has been changed to a different command. The icon on the button remains the same. I have no idea what caused the change, or what the users did prior to the change.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Now that you've figured it out, you likely want to set the Limits to Off in your template so that you won't have to worry about it anymore.

I would guess the problem is insufficient memory in your plotter. Time for an upgrade! You may want to check the printer settings and see if you can use the computer memory instead of printer memory as a test.

Running AutoMap on part of a file

Something for the wish list: The ability to choose a range of points to run AutoMap on. It could work similar to the Point Update command but include the processing of XYZ codes. That would avoid the issue that when you import and process more fieldwork after having edited the previous fieldwork (e....

It seems that Leica is moving towards standardizing on using FBK files as a standard file to export data from their total stations. Are there any plans to support the FBK file in MSCad? I see some references to FBK files in the Field Genius forum, but it seems designed for exportign figures from Fie...

I am familiar with the cad break command, but am wondering if MScad has added a variant of the command to automatically break crossing lines into short segments. e.g., in a building layout where I have grid lines, I want to quickly put a point at every intersection.
