WGS84 vs NAD83 (GRS80) ellipsoids and working coordinate system.

Post by timd1971 » Sat Aug 04, 2018 10:25 am

I know these ellipsoids are VERY similar and for all "practical" purposes pretty much equal (not technically, but practically).

But when selecting a COORIDINATE SYTEM in FieldGenius project setup, is there a way to select WGS84 for the Horizontal instead of NAD83 UTM or State Planes? I know I can do this with the vertical, but would like to keep my coordinate the same coming from my Emlid Reach RS Rover (also have base Reach RS unit which rover gets corrections). These units work in WGS84 (LLH and XYZ).

Thank you for the help if I missing something here!

Tim

EDIT: I see in the Coordinate Calculator you can select Latitude/Longitude and LL84 for WGS84 but NOT in the Coordinate System Selection for the project?

I also noticed that Carlson SurvCE has a place to check convert WGS84 TO NAD83? Does FG have this also?

I see it's like crickets here. Such great software, especially compared to SurvCE etc, figured there would be more user base activity! O well. :?
