FG2007 3.0.1 Line Staking Bug

Postby surveyjoe » Sun Dec 10, 2006 8:10 pm

When I goto stake settings and set the mode to left/right, FieldGenius tells me to go in or out.

When I set the mode to in/out, FieldGenius tells me to go left or right.

The program is backwards.

Equipment used:
Topcon GTS-3D (non-robotic) and manual mode on Tracker Xtreme.

Thank You,

John

check your stakeout orientation setting.......if you set to prism, it will be opposite if its set to Instrument. That might be why your getting backwards results for the L/R movement.

Chris,

This has to do with Line Staking, not point staking.

Try staking a line and you will see what I mean.

FG2007 3.0.1 has two different modes to tell the rodman how to move while line staking.

The program will either tell the rodman to move left/right to get to the stake line or move in\out to get to the stake line.

It does not matter with line staking if the orientation is set to prism or instrument.

If the line staking settings are set to left/right, FG tells me to go in/out.
If the line staking settings are set to in/out, FG tells me to go left/right.

The program is backwards.

Yup - the buttons are reversed. A minor boo boo that will be fixed for the next patch.

I for one have always felt this routine was a little confusing. Why not give the option of seeing both in/out and left/right at the same time. The need to switch back and forth is constant and time consuming while staking a long line starting below the instrument and coming toward the instrument and then finally beyond the instrument. Also the routine reports station and offset of the shot on different lines. I think this is confusing and it would be better if they were reported on the same line.
