CF card GPS for NEMA input into FG

Post by mlbrack » Mon Apr 12, 2010 7:23 am

Just a quick recommendation for all FG users....

For a total investment of about $70 you can add a compact flash gps card for WAAS-enabled positioning directly from your data collector.

It's perfect for reconnaissance or trying to relocate monuments, etc. without lugging around your whole rover rig or setting up a base station.

The CF card gps uses a NEMA output, which can be configured by FG.

I purchased Globalsat BC-337 recievers, which on inital testing generates coordinates at about 1.5-2 m RMS with a WAAS message.

You'll probably also have to buy an extended cap for you data collector to keep everything protected. That will run about $100 for Trimble/TDS products.
