Resection with FG2010

Postby DaveS » Thu Jun 10, 2010 10:06 am

We have just got an Allegro with 2010. The field crew came back today after having done a resection. In the release notes there is a small section saying there are improvements to the resection routine with an image. The crew's concern was that there was not a way of seeing the residuals to the points measured until after the resected point had been stored.

Is there a way to view the residuals and remove any bad or unwanted shots prior to storing the point?

Thanks, Dave

Hi, yes just press the (i) info button on the Resection Toolbar prior to storing the point, to see the HA/HD/VD errors of each shot, and to either use or ignore the Horizontal and Vertical components of each shot. This is separate from the Standard Deviation shown directly on the Resection toolbar which gives an indication of the overall geometric quality of the resection. Both the overall Standard Deviation and the individual HA/HD/VD Errors should always be considered prior to storing the resected point.

Is there a way of easily and quickly changing the prism constant during resection? Currently the only way we know of seems to involve about ten steps....and renders resection an annoyance.

No easy way currently but improvements to prism offset management will come. We would like to add a prism offset manager that lets the user define custom or default prism offsets and have access to them directly from the total station toolbar.

That does sound like a good idea. We look forward to seeing it!
Thanks for responding...
