Antenna Specs

Postby Richard Sands » Thu Oct 27, 2011 6:43 pm

New to 2011 FG is the Antenna setup (Page 358 of the manual).
Previous versions had a range of Antennas to select but these appear to be limited now.

I am in the dark when it comes to terms used and haven't been able to find a defenition of ARP and APC (latter is an 'Aspirin' downunder used for headaches!!) (my wife has another defenition for both- from her nursing background).

What do these abbreviations stand for please?

regards
Richard

We adopted the NGS antenna calibration terminology.

ARP = Antenna Reference Point
APC = Antenna Phase Center

The ARP is the spot on the antenna you measure to to determine the height of antenna above the point you've setup over. You can refer to your receiver manual for the ARP and APC offsets.

You mention that FieldGenius 2011 is missing your antenna. Which antenna model are you looking for?

Thanks Jason
I googled but found nothing pertinent.
I was unaware of the NGS site.

I have Sok600 (SK600) with a Radian Base and it was there (base setup) that I didn't have those antenna listed.
Not wanting to take anything for granted in this excercise I was hoping to check just what these settings mean.

Yes they are listed in the Rover settings but under Novatel Propak LB- found that after original posting.
I have a Sokkia 2650LB and thats not listed but the 2600 is with different antenna choices.
