Sending Digital Files for Reproduction

Post by erin » Tue May 09, 2006 4:14 pm

Our company (uses MSCAD2005) just attempted for the first time to send our digital files to our reproduction company for prints. I sent .dwg file, .pcp file, and a .ctb file. The reproduction company uses AutoCAD2006 to open the files we send in and by sending the above, they were unable to reproduce what we had set for our lineweights. I also sent a .bmp file but that was also unsuccessful. What format/files do people usually send to have their drawings reproduced?

At present time there seems to be a minor incompatibility for sending CTB files to AutoCAD. This is being worked on by IntelliCAD and hopefully will be solved and supplied in a future update or upgrade for MSCAD 2005.

If your client uses the Plot Style Table Editor supplied with AutoCAD, they should be able to open the CTB file you sent, then immediately save it again. This should correct any issues in the CTB file format. Then the CTB file should be able to be used in AutoCAD to plot.

We have had great succes with sending PDF files of drawings to our repro house for plotting/copying of drawings for mass repro. Although we use Adobe Professional , there are a number of "freeware", "shareware" and low cost PDF writers on the market.

A PDF generator inside MSCAD would be a VERY welcome addition for the future!!! (Hint, Glen, WISHLIST Item!)

It is on the list for future development consideration.
We also have a tech note that may help for now: http://www.microsurvey.com/support/shar ... te-pdf.htm
