CTB/STB conversion from MSCAD2004 to MSCAD2005...

Postby ianw2 » Mon Aug 14, 2006 1:15 pm

We are working on a series of files from different jobs that were created in MSCAD 2004. We’re opening them in 2004 and saving them as DWG files. They open wonderfully in MSCAD2005. The problem arises when we go to plot.

I’ve been CAD drafting for almost 20 years. I’m so used to the color dependent plot config tables (CTB) that I can’t get used to the STB style. Unfortunately, when saving a drawing in 2004 as a DWG, the default we seem to be getting is an STB file.

My work around is to open a new drawing in our standard template (uses CTB files); copy the contents of the saved DWG; close the saved DWG; overwrite with the newly created drawing.

There has got to be a better way!

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to get drawings from 2004 to 2005 and use CTB files instead of defaulting to STB files?

CTB Styles

Ian,
type in CONVERTPSTYLES and that shoud do the trick.
I found with all the old files it was convinient to assign the f4 key to do this.
Hope this helps

Thanks, John!

However, my F4 is set to "REGEN".

The customizability of MSCAD is, in my experience, without parallel. I love it! Most of the commands I use often are mapped to my left hand keyboard strokes. I can really fly because I know where my aliases are mapped to.

When I get on someone else's machine, it drives me bonkers! NOTHING is where it is on my machine! ;^)

Cheers, John!

You could also set a variable in MSCAD2004 prior to saving the DWG file.
You have to set PSTYLEPOLICY to 1 for CTB and set it to 0 for STB.

Then you should not need to run the command convertpstyles in MSCAD2005.

Both methods work so choose what is best for you.
