ANGBASE & ANGDIR problem

Postby vince » Tue May 27, 2003 9:24 am

I am currently using a demo of MSCAD2002. It seems that the convention of drawing lines using the cad "line" command in the format xxdxx'xx" will not draw in the correct direction irregardless of unitsetup settings.
ANGBASE = 270d, ANGDIR = 1 -- using these settings will result in a line of
@100<80d being drawn at an az. of 100d. The unitsetup seems to be out 180d. The same setup in MSCAD2001 works as expected. Has anyone else had this problem, or is there some obscure variable that is screwed up.

Use capitol letters in your direction, 90D not a little d. That is also true of directions use N or S, not lower case letters at the prompt.

CADLines

You could also use an easier method of entry to draw lines (and curves). With your mouse, simply pick on any Line in the drawing. A CADLines dialog should come up on screen. It has many bits of info on it about the line you just picked BUT in this case we want to use the other buttons that allow you to enter new Lines. They have options of either calculating points automatically or not - you can traverse or enter many side shots.

I would strongly suggest trying this out as it is very easy to use and follows standard survey input methods rather than trying to use the CAD methods.
