Point Symbols ??

Post by Jennessy » Fri May 15, 2009 12:31 pm

Ok so I have a bunch of different points in different layers, I want each of the points in the different layers to have different symbols. I tried changing the symbols by layers in Drawing Settings, however, when I do this all of the points in the drawing file change to the same symbol instead of just the points in the layer that I specified. Can anyone tell me a way to establish different symbols for different layers ??

Thank you
Jen Hennessy

Jen you need to use Automap and apply different symbols of your chosing to individual Codes/ Descriptions or whatever you are used to. (You can create your own symbol or block and use that)
That doesn't change to actual 'point' entity. Thats a global setting for all CAD points as you discovered. Surveyed points (the entity itself) are really just CAD points but they do have unique properties specific to Microsurvey.
Remember the symbols are 'dumb' entities - purely CAD entities, whereas the 'Points' are database entities that can be exported in ASCII format.
See Glens post to your "layer' query.
You can also in AutoMap assign individual Points based on descriptions to unique layers and the symbol relating to that point to a unique layer.
Hope that helps.

Richard
