Elevation to be inline with the line its on.

Postby Peter G » Thu Jan 28, 2010 8:47 am

Hi,

I just did a survey and had to spent over a day rotating and moving a lot of elevations from the normal position to then be in line with the line they are on. So it would be above the top of bank line and then below the bottom of bank line.

Is there a quicker way of doing this.

Just like a symbol assigned to a certain code can be be rotated, is there a way we could predetermine where we would like the elevation to appear with certain codes, like top, bottom of bank, kerb line- to be aligned with the line, MH could be set to 90 but spot heights or levels could be at their standard rotation of 45.

Is this possible?? Or is this one thing we have to do the old fashioned way.

Still using MScad 2008 SP1.3

Thanks

Peter

Hi,
To do this with automap you would need to create a block with the desired text in it, and assign it to that description and use the Rotate Symbol to Previous Point option, then tell automap to use a blank Plotted Description.
It may be easier just to leave the Automap text and symbol as is, and rotate it using the MS_ROTOLINE command, under MsAnnotate | Modify Text | Rotate Text to Match Text/Line.

Peter one thing to be aware is that certain routines in Mscad will revert ALL the elevations, descriptions etc back to their default position.
I do these adjustments after I have finished messing with the drawing.

Thanks Brian,
That MS_rotoline command is great. This program is full of little gems i just hope I can find them all.

Thanks again.
