DUAL PROCESSORS

Postby Richard Sands » Tue Jul 15, 2003 1:14 pm

Are any users using dual processors with MSCAD (or any other programs) and if so are there any issues one needs to know about. I am upgrading and my PC supplier suggested this may be the way to go.(I have a GIS program which bogs down mapping large amounts data - it is OK for MSCAD) Currently I am looking at a P4 3.0 gig (800FSB) with 1 (1.5?) gig DDR400 Ram and he offered a twin P4 3.0.
Your input is appreciated

My computer has Dual Processors. It is a very fast computer.
I moved from a P2 to a P4 , so I saw a big can in speed.

But before you jump on Dual Processors you might to check out
the new HYPER THREAD TECHNOLOGY. Some say this is the next
big advancement in computers.

DUAL PROCESSORS

Postby Richard Sands » Thu Jul 17, 2003 7:27 pm

I posted this query on my GIS user page and also Corel Draw. Many comments have led me to chose this new P4 technology rather than dual processors. I have ordered it with heaps of RAM. When I get it I will let you know how it performs, once I get it up and running. (Ill do a few speed tests on some very very big jobs which currently take quite some time to load on my P4 1.6g machine.)
I was told they dont yet make motherboards to take dual processors in the latest hyper whatever.
thanks for comments
regards
Richard
