I obtained images from the Purdue Cagis site, but they have a *.sid extention.
Is there a way to bring these into Microsurvey 2004?

That is a "Mr. Sid" file. You will have to translate it into one of the formats recognized by MicroSurvey.

I tried to use MSpaint.

What software do I use to translate *.sid to the formats used by Microsurvey?

I have never had a need for that so I haven't looked into it.

Raster Conversion

You might check out a program called Hijaak Pro version 5. It will do many conversions and may include the one you are asking about.

This link takes you to their web-site: http://www.imsisoft.com/faminfo.asp?fam=4

The POB web-site had a discussion on this topic that may help as well:

You can also print to a .pdf file which will translate to a number of different formats, some which microsurvey handles.

how do you paste an image jpg file into a mscad sheet. Images such as vicinity maps, curb details etc. I have scanned them in as a jpg file.

IMAGE

All raster images can be inserted into your drawing in MSCAD2004 by running the command IMAGE. Then set the file type on the dialog to JPG and locate the image on your hard drive - then it will insert it into the drawing.

The View menu -> Raster -> Insert Image, is where the command can be located in the menus. You can also simply type in IMAGE.

I found the easiest way to deal with images and not having to mess with the scale is to create a viewport in paper space for each image.
