Points in Oblivion

Postby GBS » Fri Jan 07, 2005 10:23 am

I am using the old 2001 version and I have a job opened that when I try to zoom extents I've found it won't. So I saved it as a dwg and opened it in autocad and found that for some reason I have a couple of small lines that are about a million miles away from my drawing.

I think it happened from another job that I inserted into my existing one.
I can get around it by renaming layers and turning the existing layers off but I am wondering why microsurvey won't zoom when Acad will

Anyone ever heard of such a thing?

zoom extents

The CAD engine does not like those HUGE distances.

To solve the problem you can do the following (CAREFULLY):
1) Zoom so you can see the entire drawing - the portion that is valid.
2) zoom back out a bit so you have a blank buffer around the drawing screen.
3) Make sure al layers are on and thawed.
4) Run the ERASE command -

> erase
Select objects: all <type in ALL and press enter once
901 selected. <entire drawing selected
Select objects: R <type in R and press enter once
Remove objects: W <type in W and press enter once
First corner: <pick just outside the top left corner of the screen
Other corner: <pick just outside the bottom right corner of the screen
76 selected. <number of items to be erased - huge distance from main drawing
Remove objects: <press enter and the command is finished.

Now you should be able to zoom extents again.
