VIEW IN LAYOUT MODE

Postby rwhatman » Fri Jan 31, 2003 7:17 am

I have copy and pasted part of my drawing into layout space.
The program let me make a view of it, but when I want use it.
The program would only view back to model space and not paper
space.

I want to do a enlargement of part of my drawing. I have done the enlargement from model, but I going to move the drawing in the future
to another Datum. I am tring to get around taking the deferent pieces
of the drawing that I use for the enlargment and putting them there.

I thought it would be better if I could do all the enlargements in paper
space (layout mode).

I would like enlarge the view and not the objects. I have scaled
all the symbols down so when I enlarge the view the symbols will
all be at a normal scale and I will still be able to show offsets to scale.

Can it be done

Layout Mode

Postby Glen Cameron » Fri Jan 31, 2003 8:21 am

In Layout Mode, you do create a viewport and then zoom and pan the model space drawing so it shows up in the viewport as desired, at the zoom ratio to represent the scale.

Items in Paperspace do not come up in viewports as they are in paperspace (layout mode) and sit on the paper with the title block, not in the viewport.

You can have multiple viewports, each at a different zoom ratio. Then when you plot the layout mode at 1=1 they will appear at different scales on paper.

The normal View command can be used in either Model space or Layout Mode and it should return to the correct saved location - as long as you are in the correct Model or layout mode.

A View in Model Space can not be used in Layout Mode and visa versa.

Hi Glen

I not sure what your saying.

I have found that in layout mode you can only view the saved view
that you saved in model space.

When I was in layout I was able to save a view, but the program
would not use it.

Should I delete all views I did in model space then program will
let me window that saved view in layout space.

I named the view (view3) in layout space and when I try to window
this view the nview does not show up. Only the views I did in Model space.

Is that what your saying. I can only window what was done in model
space and not what was done in layout space.

Sure be a good option some day if you could.

Layour Mode and Nview

Postby Glen Cameron » Fri Jan 31, 2003 9:18 am

When creating a Viewport in Layout Mode - what you see in that viewport is the model space drawing. If you have a named view saved in model space then you can retrieve it in that viewport. A named viewport created in layout mode can not work in the viewport.
