Automap line connections and z coding

Postby J Bunker » Thu Apr 22, 2004 6:05 am

The help menu and manual are very limited to the subject of automapping.
I have set up an automap library and I am now ready to set up the automap line connection function. Do all the points shot in have to be sequence for the automap to join them properly and how do you z code points and how does in work.

In addition to the help in the program we do have a couple of tech notes on this web-site that may help you.

Any of the line generating methods that we support assume that the point numbers are increasing but they do not have to be consecutive. As long as the points al have the same description code, the routines will join them together in increasing order.

You mention AutoMAP Linework as well as Z-Coding linework. These are 2 different ways of drawing linework. We do also have 2 other method, SDRMap Coding and AIMS Coding.

The help file does show the Z-Coding, SDRMap Coding and AIMS Coding options with a short example and drawing to show how the linework would be drawn. These 3 methods all require special coding, typically done in the field, to allow the linework to be drawn in the MSCAD program. The AutoMAP linework does not require special coding but is limited in it's ability to start and stop as desired and to draw curves, etc.
