Data Transfer Speed

Postby Dave Morris » Thu Sep 02, 2004 3:41 pm

We usually do topographic surveys that range from 5000 to 30000 points. Data is gathered with Leica GPS and total stations. I have found that since switching to MSCAD2004 that the process for reading and layering the points is considerablly slower ( to a point of frustration) as compared to MSCAD2002. At times it can take an hour or more the process the ASCII file. Is this a problem with the software, or are there changes that must be made to hour computers.

Speed

The internal workings of the survey portion of the program did not change for that routine but the CAD engine has changed in many areas.

If you would be so kind as to email me a 30,000 point ASCII file for us to test, we may be able to see if we can make changes to the program to help speed things up. If it is due to the CAD engine, we can pass the details on to the CAD company and see if they can make changes as well.

[email protected] is my email address.
