FG XG on toughbook 01

Postby Glenn Eastman » Thu Sep 09, 2004 9:14 am

After running XG on an IPAQ, I am now trying to install it on to the Toughbook. The install process seems to go well until I run the program.
It of course asks for the key code so I enter it but I notice that the serial
number isn't listed, so the program won't run, except in demo mode. I'm installing to SD card. I'm installing on the toughbook because I was never really satisfied with the IPAQ. Anyone have any idea what I need to do?

FG on a SD card

Postby Glen Cameron » Thu Sep 09, 2004 10:12 am

Which operating system does your Panasonic Toughbook use? When you look at the screen, is the Start button in the lower left corner of the screen or upper left corner?

If it is the older model (Start button in lower left corner of the screen, running Windows CE 3.0) then the SD card can not be used to license the FG program unless you also have a Compaq Flash card in the unit.

CF card

Postby Glen Cameron » Thu Sep 09, 2004 10:30 am

With a CF card installed, the program should be able to generate the numbers it needs. The program should still run on the SD card, if you wish, as long as the CF card is installed. You can also remove it from the SD card and install to the CF card, if you wish.

toughbook

Postby Glenn Eastman » Thu Sep 09, 2004 10:48 am

Glen,

Thanks for the help. i just received the toughbook yesterday from a survey supplier in Florida via an ebay auction (very good deal) but there is no manual. I have removed the top of the 01 where the CF would go, the space looks kind of large, is an adapter sleeve necessary? do you know? or are my eyes just playing tricks on me?

Regards

CF card

Postby Glen Cameron » Thu Sep 09, 2004 12:19 pm

No - the card should be just a standard CF card. No sleave required on the one I had here. It should pop in (there is a button on 1 side to pop it back out again, if required).

Good Luck!

CFcard

Postby Glenn Eastman » Fri Sep 10, 2004 11:29 am

Glen,

I'm still having trouble. Do I need to use the CF card that shipped withXG?
I was hoping to use a larger memory card.

CF Card

Postby Glen Cameron » Fri Sep 10, 2004 11:56 am

Pretty much and CF card should work. You would just have to install FG on it to run the program, of course.

You do not have to use the card we shipped you. There may be some brands that do not work as well as others, but I don't know of any right now to recommend to use or stay away from.
