Panasonic TB 01 Installation

Postby Glenn Eastman » Wed Mar 02, 2005 11:05 am

Several months ago I wanted junk the IPAQ and install XG on to an old style TB 01 and I was having problems doing so. I recieved some help but I still couldn't get it loaded on the Panasonic. I haven't had time to mess with it since until recently. I'm trying to install to the CF (Sandsik 128)which I have formatted. I run the installation and all goes well until the TB gets stuck on the "Setting regisrty enties" screen, I let it stay stuck for 12 hours before soft rebooting. I then start the program from the prgrams menu. The License screen pops up and it says: "No software license found' Then FGDC 2 02G49060 (differnt than the # on the IPAQ) and a blank space for the code.
I go to type in the code and with the first character entry I get an invalid code message.. Any ideas what to do?

Pass code

The Panasonic would probably generate a different code than the iPAQ. Please contact our head office and they will get you a new password for that unit.

I went a head and got a new pass code and it doesn't work. I didn't think it would since as soon as I type any character the ivalid code message pops up. if I continue and enter the entire code the activate button remains "greyed" out.. Any other ideas/hints? Thanks

Being you have tried a soft reset, I might suggest doing a hard reset - then reinstall the program and see if this helps.

I unintentionally did that by letting the batteries go dead in the TB.
Thanks for the advice,however.

I just did a soft reset when the activation screen popped up.
Started the program up,entered the code and I was able to activate.
Go figure! Thanks for the help

New problem

Postby Glenn Eastman » Wed Mar 02, 2005 5:24 pm

Now that the program runs, when I go to start a new project I get this message:
"Unable to find data directory \Microsurvey FieldGenius\FG Projects\"
as if it's looking in the main memory not the CF card. The directory does exist on the storage card.
Any ideas about this?

Hi Glenn,

Did you happen to use the same Cf Card that was in your iPAQ? If you did then perhaps the msurvey.ini file has some references to locations on your iPAQ.

The ini file can be found in Storage Card\MicroSurvey FieldGenius\Programs. Copy it to your desktop and open it in notepad and see if you can spot any problems. Or.... email it to me and I will take a look at it.
