Cellular modem

Post by nvolny » Thu Sep 08, 2005 9:30 am

The city of Bend, OR has a permanent base station broadcasting corrections by cellular modem. I am using a TopCon Hi-Per+ system and FG 2005. Can FieldGenius use the correction from a Cell Modem and how do I go about making that happen?

Thanks,

Norb

I am guessing this is not an option?

I would suspect that the modifications would be to the radio prtion of the rover profile. I don't know if FG has any cell phone modem options available...yet.

I don't have the cell modem as of yet so haven't been able to try. From what I understand I have to connect to a website address through the cell modem to receive corrections. If this is done through the cell maybe I will be able to just hook into the modem and receive the corrections no problem. Don't know yet was just wondering if there is anyone with experience out there.

Thanks for reply.

Hello,

Yes we do have some customers who connect to cellular based systems with their RTK rover and FieldGenius. Currently only our Leica drivers support receiving corrections via cellular connection.

Are the drivers supplied by the GPS company or created by Microsurvey? Just wondering if it is possible to get the TopCon drivers. Who do I have to pay, borrow, beg or steal from to get a cell modem working? Is this something Fieldgenius will be adding in the future? Having a permanent base which I don't need to maintain is a huge advantage.

Thanks,

Norb
