When staking out a line/arc, the offset value always seems to be positive. It would be very helpful if the value changed from postive to negative, depending on which side of the line the try point lies. A negative value for Left of the defined line and a postive value for right. Please consider adding this to a future release.
It might seem at first blush that this information would be obvious, but I assure you it is not. Oftentimes, in construction staking, we are dealing with very small values of a few hundredths of a foot. The positive/negative indicator is very helpful in these situations.
It took us a long time to figure out how FG works in this regard. The manual does not mention the fact that FG mysteriously changes the in-out staking values to left/right values, dependent on the angle from the instrument to the line. The L/R value being perpendicular from rod to gun, not perpendicular to the staked line.
