Windows XP and Vista and MSCAD 2008.

Post by B. K. Lemons » Thu Jun 28, 2007 7:39 pm

Posts here and information in the knowledge base say that MSCAD 2008 is being developed to run under Windows Vista.

Many of us, including myself, will likely stick with Windows XP in our offices for quite a while, at least with our existing computers and possibly even with purchases of new computers. Dell and perhaps others are still selling computers with XP, I'm told.

Will MSCAD 2008 be available to run under XP?

It would be of great benefit for customers to be able to upgrade to MSCAD 2008 for XP, then later trade it in for MSCAD for Vista without additional cost.

What's the plan?

MSCAD2008 will run on XP or Vista, same CD, it sees the windows version during installation and does what it needs to automatically, to install appropriate files. This is the same as we have always done - it detects the supported windows version automatically during the install. Vista was not out when previous versions of MSCAD were released, so that is why we currently do not support Vista.

Thanks, Glen. That is what I was hoping to hear.
