How to Export points to Excel Spreadsheet?

Postby DKNTEC » Wed Jul 11, 2007 3:29 pm

I want to copy a long set of points into a new Microsoft Excel 2000 spreadsheet with N, E, Elev, Desc in separate columns, to use as a basis for grade calcs.

I've tried MsPoints>Export Points in both methods;
-Coordinates Delimited (in both comma and space delimited formats),
-Coordinates Column Specific (after setting it up correctly I think with no "extra" width to the columns).
I then open the new file as a Excel spreadsheet 2000, & all three trys just produce all the data for each point in one column, with no seperations of N, E, EL, D into seperate columns.
The point sets are on separate rows so that part is ok.

What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help?

Thank you!

From the coordinate editor, select the points you want and go CTRL-C.

Open a new spreadsheet and go CTRL-V.

Yeah, it's that easy. :)

Wow! Slick! Works great!
Thanks Jeff!
I did find that "Text to Columns" in Excel would separate the data of my original attempts, if comma delimited, but yet more steps to a long way around.
Thanks again!
