MSCAD Crash

Post by GEM » Mon Nov 19, 2007 10:56 am

I run MSCAD 2004 SP9. I was working on a drawing and something happened to the computer (crash of some description). After reboot, I tried to reload the drawing I was working on. No go. I tried the msd to ms1 and mbk to msd stuff. No go. Then I noticed that there was no flx file. The msj folder appears on the subdirectory I am working on. Is there a way to recover from the msj folder? I have a back up of the computer from this morning, but I don't want to lose the stuff I did today. Thanks.

2004 CRASH

have you tried changing the file extension of .mbk file to a .flx file? That used to work for me. The msj file is not any use and can be trashed.
I just tried this in 2004 and confirms it works.
Have you looked at 2008? There's been a lot of water under the bridge sionce MSCAD2004.
regards, Richard

The backup of an FLX file is a BAK file. Try renaming the BAK to FLX. The MSJ folder is simply the database uncompressed (database file is the MSD and the backup of it is the MBK).
