change in lat/dep

Post by Mike Parrella » Mon May 19, 2003 3:27 am

Is there a way in MicroSurvey to compute a point from a known point using the change in the northing & easting? Also if I have two known points can MicroSurvey supply me with the changes in northing and easting (without having to subtract them manually)?

Hi
You can use the shift east, north option, but you have to know what the shift is. By subtraction of the two northings and eastings.

It would be nice if in the shift option you just type the new coordinate
to where you want to shift to. I sent this idea a long time ago to you know who.

OK, Here is how I do it.

It very simple, just use the CAD move command. You window everything, pick the end point of a line and type the x,y of that end point.

There its done.

If you have points with elevations on them make sure you pick a line
with a 0 elevation or you will end up shifting the elevations as well.

Shift Points

Another nice option here would be to include the shifting of points by a bearing and a distance.

Shift Points

Post by Glen Cameron » Thu May 22, 2003 10:51 am

I have added the idea of shifting or moving points by Bearing and Distance, as well as by Delta Northing and Easting, to our development list. The programmers can then decide if they are able to do it and when.

I have also added the request for a routine to give the difference in Lat/Dep (delta N and E) when inputting either 2 points or a list.

Keep the ideas flowing!

Can I have one more thing added.

I would like to be able to rotate using a bearing from the point I shifted to
another known point.

With this option I could shift from a assumed datum to Nad83 and rotate it
to Grid bearing from Astronomic .

I can do it now in two commands. I rotate work to Grid bearing then
shift to another datum.

Lets make the programer do the full job on this one.
