Export of Surface triangles as a CAD file

Postby shippy7 » Wed Apr 09, 2008 3:40 pm

Is it possible to export a surface generated in MSCAD2008 Premium as a CAD file for import to a program such as Eagle Point Sanitary Sewers or RoadCalc? I am informed that to use these modules one needs this capability, else the need to purchase a third module which has significant overlap with MSCAD. Thanks.

EXPORT SURFACE INFO TO CAD

Postby Richard Sands » Wed Apr 09, 2008 10:18 pm

I regularly supply surface info to others in the form of 3D faces (triangles) from a Tin.
They then create their own surface.
These get included in the dwg I send, or you could just send a dwg of the actual Polyfaces.
The thing to ensure is a true geographic fit so their datum is your datum in Nth/East/Elevation.
Not sure about your application mentioned, but expect it should work.

Richard:

Thanks for your kind response. (My question perhaps demonstrates my naivety at the whole process!)

The software that will be used on the other end is Eagle Point's RoadCalc and their Sanitary Sewers.
