InCAD 2011?

Postby Teresa » Tue Nov 16, 2010 11:56 am

I've had my maintenance contract Civil 3D 2011 sitting in its box on my desk since April. I've held off installing it because my MicroSurvey InCAD, so far as I know, won't work with it. But now, as always, my clients are using 2011 and I need it on my computer in order to open their drawings properly.

Back to the same old dilemna...oh dear oh dear, what to do?

I use the CAD software made by the Autodesk folks because it works very well and I like it. I use MS InCAD because I find it necessary for everyday use and I like it just fine. Perhaps somebody here has happily been using InCAD with Civil 3D 2011 already? I'd love to know. Alternatively, I'd love to know what the plans are for MS InCAD upgrades if any.

Silence....
Perhaps I should rephrase the question?

Q: Can you please tell me what MicroSurvey’s plans are for their InCAD software? Are the plans to gently let the InCAD software slip and hope that folks switch to using the stand-alone MS CAD package? Or are the plans to keep the InCAD flag flying?

I will add that I think that the InCAD software is just great. Even if it were just the "basic version" stuff that was in it - basically cogo stuff without dtm and design capabilities.

Regardless, for planning purposes, it would be very helpful to know MicroSurvey's plans for this software.

Hi Teresa,

There will be new updates for inCAD coming soon. We will start looking into building the AutoCAD 2011 compatible version in December 2010. Because the majority of our customer use the stand alone version, it gets priority over all other products so inCAD is the last to get updated. We do understand that many of our customers rely on inCAD and we try our hardest to keep it up to date as quickly as possible.

Thanks for the answer, Jason.
That is what I needed to know for my maintenance contract decision.

I wonder...I think that the acad 2012 comes out relatively early in 2011. My DVDs for it arrived in March or April ;-))))

Hi Teresa,

Just to let you know we've started working on inCAD 2011 this week, so support for AutoCAD 2011 will be coming soon. When AutoCAD 2012 is released we'll work on another inCAD update. We are committed to keeping as current as possible. Thank you for your continued support and business!

So...I am taking my Civil 3D 2012 out of its package ready to install on a shiny new computer with 64 bit operating that should actually be able to run it decently.
The question arises: can the current version of Microsurvey InCAD work with it?
I guess I will just try it and find out. :-)

Hi, inCAD 2011 does not currently work with AutoCAD 2012. I would, however, like to begin working on an inCAD for AutoCAD 2012 fairly soon, as some of our other current development projects are getting wrapped up.
