.dwg - 2010 version

Postby Richard Sands » Thu Aug 11, 2011 4:10 pm

Increasingly I get files in 2010 version of dwg.
Whilst Mscad converts and opens them I am concerned what goes on under the hood so to speak.

Is the an upgrade to Mscad 2010 on the way please?

Asking others to save back to an earlier version is not always an option and if it is it still involves extra steps at their end.

regards

Hi Richard,

Yes, an upgrade is being built on IntelliCAD 7 which uses the latest Open Design Alliance DWG engine. It is a full rewrite of the CAD engine and as such it has a number of new features. We will be releasing on this version in the fall/winter when it stabilizes and may be available in 64 bits.

That's welcome thanks.
Interesting about the 64 bit.
Its always hard to ascertain benefits in this area but my laptop is a new 64bit Win 7 Pro and PC a 32 bit Win 7 Pro and I vouch for the benefits of 64 bit in some applications.
I would take the 64 bit version anyday if its written for such and wish now I'd gone the 64 bit way with my last PC. Live and learn.
