Computing Area from cogo points...

Postby Dave Karoly » Mon Nov 28, 2011 8:37 am

A common cogo function is to inverse around a figure (from point to point), lines and curves (right and left) and upon closing get a report which has all of the inverses, coordinates and the area at the bottom.

I see that Microsurvey can inverse using existing cogo points and the result is a text object with the areas in it but there is no report. Maybe I'm missing something.

The reason for the report is so that I can check my entry against the Deed (for example) to make sure I didn't make any mistakes.

I have a PDF file which is formatted correctly but I can't upload it.

Like this excerpted example (entry done in Microsurvey, inverse with area done elsewhere):

(It looks better in the original but forum software typically strips extra spaces.)

Dave,

I believe that MSCad will do this .. I do it all the time. I think they call it the prompt history window .. F2
I run dual monitors and always have this open on the second one along with the coord display. You can also
open up the log file if you want to print it out. This example has no curves but it will do that too... formating
is a little messed up here
