Microsurvey 2014 print issue and other things....

Postby Vince Boothe » Wed Nov 27, 2013 8:55 am

I gave Microsurvey 2014 a try yesterday. I've skipped using 2013 as there are many things I preferred in 2010. Figured I would give 2014 a chance.

First issue I have is that in printing in 2014, the text is 'blocky' and does not come out properly. I first noticed it on a print from our plotter, and it does the same if I create a pdf. Attached are examples of the same file, printed in both 2010 and 2014. Guess I will need to re-open drawing in 2010 to print......

2nd: Every time I go to open a block, it defaults to the folder that the current job is in. It does not follow the path as specified in 'options : path/files : blocks'. This is a major inconvenience.

3rd: In 2010, I could ctrl+drag with the mouse to duplicate an object. I use this all the time to move and create text. Any way to do this in 2014?

4th. Inside a command (for example move), if you change the current snaps for the first part of the command (selecting the initial point), the snap reverts back to the previous default for the second part of the command (the final point).

5th: the 2014 entity properties dialogue box is terrible.

I want to like 2014 and some of the newer features, but its hard when 2010 seems to be faster and easier to use.

1ST: I haven't been able to install MSCAD2014 yet, having permission issues on my computer and IT liaison is on vacation this week.

4TH: MSCAD2013 snaps operate the way how you describe in MSCAD2014. Apparently the way snaps work in MSCAD2010 is the bugged way. The way the snaps work now in MSCAD2013 and MSCAD2014 is the way they are supposed to work, and intended to work in MSCAD2010. But, I agree, I like the way MSCAD2010 snaps work MUCH better!
FYI - When MSCAD2013 was first launched, I submitted a bug report about this and was told the above information. :(

5TH: MSCAD2013 Entity Properties Dialogue box is terrible as well and it appears that it was carried over to MSCAD2014.

See my thread on MSCAD 2013 Entity Properties window here:
