Leica Geo Office Baselines to STAR*NET

Postby Jennessy » Wed Nov 12, 2014 3:05 pm

Hello, I am having some issues trying to export my processed baselines from Leica Geo Office 8.0 to STAR*NET. I tried following the instructions at http://www.microsurvey.com/helpdesk2/in ... tep/View/5 but the output file is not right. I am selecting to import a SKI ASCII file, under the General tab I select Baselines and Cartesian coordinates and under the Baseline tab I selected Covariance however my output file does not look right please see below for a sample of the output file:

I want my GPS Baselines to look similar to the format below:

I tried exporting SKI ASCII files about a year ago from LGO with success so I know it is possible but I am not sure what I did to get it into the format above.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time

Hi,

This is an old thread, but did you ever get it sorted out?

The SKI ASCII file from LGO can be imported into STAR*NET by going to Input > Import GPS Data, and choosing the Leica format.
There are some specific options that need to be set when exporting the file from LGO though, which are detailed in the STAR*NET manual as follows:

Leica (Ski-Pro and Lecia Geomatics Office)

The Leica baseline processors store vectors in an integrated database that the vector importer routine cannot directly use. To use these baseline vectors, you can export them from the database to a standard text file. In Leica software, use the “Export ASCII Data” feature, and in the “Save as type” field, choose the “SKI ASCII file (*.asc)” selection and press the Export button. The Leica software allows you to export to any file name, but it defaults to an “ASC” extension unless you indicate otherwise. Likewise, the importer routine in STAR*NET also defaults to the “.ASC” extension.

When exporting, a tabbed dialog lets you set Export Settings. On the General tab dialog, select “Baselines” for File Type, select “Cartesian” for Coordinate Type, and in the “Include items” area at the bottom of the dialog, the “Keywords” and “Header” boxes should be checked. Then finally, on the Baseline tab, make sure the “Covariance” item is checked so that vector weighting is exported. Different versions of Leica software have slightly different options. See Leica SKI, SKI-PRO and LGO user’s manuals for details on exporting vectors.

Leica has an elaborate scheme for collecting station descriptors and attributes. See the next section in this chapter for special options available to extract selected descriptor and attribute text from the Leica database into STAR*NET data.

Yes I did get this sorted out but thanks anyways! I don't use StarNet very often so I will save this for future reference.

This is just a related note. Leica has just added export of SKI ASCII to their newer Infinity software. Some STAR*NET customers have been holding on to their LGO and will be pleased to learn about this.
