"mscad.aiu" or "mapscenes.aiu" file in my Recycle Bin

Question

I keep seeing a file in my Recycle Bin called "mscad.aiu" or "mapscenes.aiu" but I didn't delete anything like that.  What is it, why does it keep getting deleted?  Is it something important that I should Restore?

Answer

MicroSurvey CAD 2010 and MapScenes 2010 have some new online update features: an Automatic Update which can check for updates automatically on startup of the program, and a Check For Updates command which can check for updates on demand.  Both of these commands download this .aiu file from the MicroSurvey Update Server, and then uses the data in this file to decide whether there is an update available to download or not.  Every time this file gets downloaded, the previously downloaded copy of this .aiu file is deleted and sent to your Recycle Bin.

Ignore it, there's nothing wrong.  You can Empty your Recycle Bin if desired.

Notes:

MicroSurvey CAD 2010 downloads and deletes a file called "mscad.aiu"

MapScenes Forensic CAD 2010  downloads and deletes a file called "MapScenesForensicCAD2010.aiu"

MapScenes Capture 2010 downloads and deletes a file called "MapScenesCapture2010.aiu"
