The FieldGenius Way …

Moving forward 10 years, data collection has evolved a lot since the days of the HP 48 and SDR devices. The biggest change is that modern data collectors have graphical capabilities and more powerful processors. Real-time linework is now possible – one of the main reasons we decided to build data collection software in the first place.

Here we will show you how to use FieldGenius to generate the same linework as in Figure 1.

Figure / Line Toggles – FieldGenius uses these to “connect the dots”. Connected points are called figures. FieldGenius maintains a figures database that contains information on which points are connected together and how they are connected. All the user has to do is tell FieldGenius how to connect them. There are three different figure controls – straight lines, splines and three point arcs.

Figure / Line List – FieldGenius displays figures in a convenient list that allows you to review the figures in your project quickly.
