Shift Points in MicroSurvey CAD 2005
By Glen W. Cameron, C.E.T.

When picking up data in the field I had to assume an elevation to start my job. All of the data was collected based upon this assumed elevation. Now that I have my data in the office, I now know the true elevation of the starting point and need to shift my entire job to this correct elevation. How do I do this in MSCAD2005?

Go to the MsPoints menu and run the Active Coordinate Editor command (ACE). Now highlight all of the points to be shifted by using one of the methods under the Select menu in ACE. Now under the Edit menu in ACE, go to the Shift Selection option. On the dialog that comes up, leave the Northing and Easting shift values alone, and enter in the desired Elevation shift.

Pick on OK and every point that was highlighted will now be shifted by the amount you entered in the dialog. In the example above, every point would have 123.456 added to the elevation already on the point. So if a point had an assumed elevation of 100 it would now be shifted to 223.456. You can also enter in a negative elevation shift to have the value subtracted from the point elevations.
