inCAD 2006 Upgrade Tour

TDS and FieldGenius | Traverse and Calculating | Drafting

MicroSurvey inCAD 2006 now has better support for TDS and FieldGenius raw files. Since both programs share a common raw file format all of the enhancements that were added to support FieldGenius, also benefit TDS users as well.

FieldGenius Figure Processing - A great deal of work has gone into making sure figures imported from FieldGenius are processed exactly as they were drawn in the field. One thing that is new is that MicroSurvey inCAD now supports complex figures. A complex figure is one that has straight segments, arcs, or splines. These can all be in the same figure !

FieldGenius Import - You can now import your FieldGenius linework directly from the figure database. The command is called proc_figure. This is very handy for if you've adjusted all your points and you want the linework to match. All you need to do is import the figure file and let inCAD process it.

Record Display Options - The format menu in the Active Traverse editor now has a new option. By default when a FieldGenius or TDS raw file is read in, we only display parts of the traverse file. We do this so it is easier to work with your traverse files and typically display instrument setups, sideshots, notes and several other shot types. TDS and FieldGenius raw files contain a lot of extra information that is not displayed in the generic format, so we give you the option of displaying these records. In the format menu you can open the Show FG/TDS Record Options Dialog. This allows you to choose what you want to display. Refer to the movie in the online help for more detailed information.

Delete Points - FieldGenius 2007 and TDS Survey Pro allow the user to delete points in the field. When this occurs, a record is created in the raw file called a "DP" Delete Point record. MicroSurvey inCAD 2006 will recognize these types of records upon import and will warn the user. Also in the traverse file, they will appear highlighted in red.

Transfer Program - This version of inCAD now supports the new FieldGenius Transfer program.

SyncWizard (a) - The SyncWizard program will now archive FieldGenius projects that are imported from user defined download directories. These directories are setup in the Options dialog in the MicroSurvey Transfer program.

SyncWizard (b)- On the first screen of the SyncWizard routine, you can now tell MicroSurvey inCAD not to archive a FieldGenius project that is being imported. By default, projects imported from the download directory specified in the Transfer Options, will be archived.

SyncWizard (c) - On the Options screen in the SyncWizard routine, you can now define the archive directory. The default is in Jobs2005, but you can now change this.

Traverse Store Point - You can now add a store point record to a traverse file. The Add Store Point command is available from the Edit Menu in the Active Traverse Editor.

Traverse Editor - All SP, GS, DP and AP raw file records will now appear in the traverse editor highlighted in yellow. These records are now processed by MicroSurvey inCAD.

Traverse Re-Coordination - During re-coordination you can define different options in how MicroSurvey should process and handle SP, DP and AP records. These options will appear on the re-coordination dialog.

Traverse Re-Coordination - There is a new "Compute 2D Only" option on the re-coordination dialog that allows you to compute coordinate data from your raw file and have the elevations set to zero automatically.

Cut Sheet Support - inCAD 2006 can now process FieldGenius and TDS cut sheet records stored in the raw file. In the Active Traverse editor, there is now a Cut Sheet menu that allows you to generate several different types of reports. Here is an example of a cut sheet report.

SyncWizard / AutoMap changes - there is now a Show Options Dialog option that allows the user to specify what inCAD 2006 should do if there is no AutoMap linework definition for a particular figure. In other words, if one of the figures is named EP:1 and there is no EP description in the AutoMap library, MicroSurvey CAD will now default to the settings specified in the Options dialog.

TDS RAW Import - When you import a FieldGenius or TDS raw file, MicroSurvey CAD will no longer ask you if you want to ignore (SP, GS, AP, GR, DP) records. These types of records are now imported automatically, and you can choose not to process them with some new options on the re-coordination dialog.

Create FieldGenius Project - When you create a FieldGenius project, a new options dialog appears allowing you to specify what surface and alignment files to include, the project name, plus an option to export the entire drawing or just a portion of it.
