Q) When I start a new job you always
ask me what my Drawing Scale is. I want my lines to be full
scale so I can measure them in MSCAD but I want my drawing
plotted at a given scale. How do I control all of this and
not get confused?
A) The prompt for the Drawing Scale when you start a new drawing,
is used to define the height of all lettering and symbols.
The linework in all cases remains at full scale so you can
measure between points and get the same distance as you would
in the field. The Drawing scale is used to automate the calculation
of how big the lettering should be in this diagram so that
when you plot this out to paper the lettering will be at the
correct size. When you run the Print/Plot command you should
maintain the same plotting scale as you entered for the drawing
scale. This ensures consistency and you will get a plot that
is correct in scale for both the linework and the lettering/symbols.
