Robotic
Connection for 5600 and FieldGenius XG
1.
Turn
the instrument on using the power button.
2.
Level
off the instrument, press enter.
3.
Instrument
should now run through the calibration routine.
4.
Enter
the temp.
5.
Enter
the pressure.
6.
Enter
the offset.
7.
Don't
worry about sighting the back sight yet, just
hit enter at the HA = prompt.
8. Confirm each of the following settings
on your 5600. (Note this only has to be done
once.)
- Menu [4] [1] Data Com, choose 2 for
serial.

YES to 1.8.0.9600. If it is different enter the correct port setting now.

Function [79] Make sure to set the EOC (END) to 4. (Trimble default is 62)

set to Feet/Inches

[1] [5] Radio channel =1, Station address =
1, Remote address = 2. Please make a note
of this as it must be the same on the FieldGenius.
9.
Turn off the instrument using
the Power button on the CU face plate.
10.
Remove the CU face plate.
11.
Turn on the instrument using
the alt. init button on the front of the instrument.
12.
When you press the alt. init
button you will hear a single beep and then
two beeps.
13.
After the two beeps are heard
you can connect FieldGenius to the correct port
on the radio.
14.
Start a new project or continue
from a previously saved project in FieldGenius.
Now, in FieldGenius,
choose the Trimble 5600 via Inst menu > Select Total
Station. Note that there are two options
to choose from for either a robotic (servo)
or non-robotic model.
Press OK to continue.
15.
FieldGenius should take
you to the Instrument Settings for the 5600.
If not, wait until you get a message asking
if you wish to continue trying to connect, then
answer NO, then go to the Inst
menu > Instrument
Settings to set the radio options
as desired.
EDM default options
Radio Options

Station Address, Remote Address and Channel Number should match your instrument.
MicroSurvey uses 1,2,1
as shown.
Search Pattern Options
-
These
items are specified in degrees.
Once you have set the radio options to match
your instrument, press OK to continue.
16.
You
should now see FieldGenius establishing connection
with first the radio, followed by the instrument.
17. Once communication
is established, the instrument begins its calibration.
18. Once calibration
is complete, the instrument toolbar (robotic
models only) will initialize.
You are now ready to begin surveying with FieldGenius and the
Trimble 5600.
