  • Drawings in FLX format need to be converted to DWG to open in 2005. Review the Batch Conversion topics for more information.
  • If you wish to share plot table file (ctb) with AutoCAD, copy the file to the AutoCAD directory. Do not open the file with the AutoCAD plot style editor and then put the file back in the MSCAD 2005 Print Styles directory. Although they have the same extension, they are not compatible in both directions.
  • To use MSCAD 2005 on a Windows 98/ME you may need to disable the automatic loading of the template file. You only need to do the following if you experience a crash when you exit the program, or experience errors when you open existing drawings. Type basefile at the command line and type "." to set it to none. We are trying to isolate the problem.
  • MSCAD 2005 may freeze up at start up. You may see a white screen with no cursor or menus. You may see it stop at the splash screen. If this happens it may be caused by a user having deselected all the filters in the traverse editor.

This causes a null entry in the c:/program files\Microsurvey\MSCAD2005\mscad\x99.dat file which causes the freeze at startup.

To correct this you need to open your c:/program files\Microsurvey\MSCAD2005\mscad\x99.dat file using notepad and look for an entry like this: "HIDE_EVR_FG_TYPIES=". If you see it, change it so it looks like: "HIDE_EVR_FG_TYPES=--" and save your changes. Restart MSCAD.
