Download Topcon Data from Topcon 210/310
(Coordinate and Measurement Files)
1)
Turn on your instrument.
2)
Start MicroSurvey (MS-CAD 2001 or MSX) and select the appropriate
file name to open (new or existing).
3) Use the MicroSurvey Pull-down Menu and Select Data Collector
Download (from DC) as shown below.
Or,
alternatively, you can choose the Send/Receive Data from Data
Collector button from the Assistant
The
Dialogue Box on the right will appear if you are using the
Assistant.
This
step is by-passed if you use the MicroSurvey pull down menu.
4)
MicroSurvey will then prompt you for the brand of data collector
you wish to download from and lets you browse to select the
directory the files will be saved to. The following dialogue
boxes illustrate the Instrument Type, Directory and File name
I used for this example.
If
you want to change the download directory, select the Browse
For Directory button and the following dialogue box will appear
and allow you to change the directory. Simply browse to the
appropriate directory and select OK. This will return you
to the Download Dialogue Box pictured above.
5)
Select OK (In the Downloading Dialogue Box) and the following
dialogue box will appear: If the current parameters are correct
then you can select Download Now.

not, you can change the parameters
by
selecting Change Current Parameters Button and select
the
appropriate parameters for your instrument. |

6)
Once you have pressed the Download Now button, the box shown
below describes what keys must be pressed on the Topcon in
order to start sending the desired data files to MicroSurvey.
7)
Select
the Start Receiving Data Now button and the following box
will appear.

MicroSurvey
automatically creates a copy of the download file and
stores it in the D:\ Jobs2000\Downloads directory. The
backup file is a copy of the original data file and should
be used if the original become corrupted in any way. Select
OK. |
8) Depending
on the type of file downloaded (Measurement or Coordinate
Data ) you will be presented with the following:

Select the Appropriate
Toggles for your data import. |

You
will then see the following Dialogue Box:
In
most cases, you would choose to create a new file.
You would then enter a file name as shown below.

Now you can enter the
information on the left so a permanent record
of the Job Description and Field Crew are recorded. |
| You
will be asked if you want to edit the data file.
If
you are aware of any errors or omissions in the
raw data file then you should select Yes to view
and edit the file. If not, select No. If you are
duplicating the field edits to the raw data, this
is where it is done. |

You
will now be asked about re-coordinating the traverse.
It is only necessary to do this if you have made
any corrections or additions to the raw data file
or if you do not wish to download the coordinate
file. |
If you choose No,
the download process is complete. Only the coordinates
in the main body of the traverse will be displayed.
All side shots will not be stored in the database.
In order to do this, you must choose to recoordinate
the traverse.
If you selected
yes, the following dialogue box will appear.
| You will now
have the option of choosing from several methods
of shot selection. To proceed, select OK. |

You will
then see the following dialogue box.
Read the
instructions and press OK. You can then print the
traverse information from the text editor screen or
simply close it by pressing the "X" in the
upper right hand corner.
Your data will now appear
on screen. This concludes the download process for
measurement data.

Data

Select the Appropriate Toggles
for your data import. |

You will then see the following
dialogue box.
Read the instructions and
press OK. You can then print the coordinate information
from the text editor screen or simply close it by pressing
the "X" in the upper right hand corner.
Your coordinate data will
now appear on screen. This concludes the download process
for coordinate data.

If you are using the Assistant, you will return to the Assistant.
